420 Stainless Steel is a high-carbon martensitic stainless steel renowned for its exceptional hardness, wear resistance, and edge retention. With a carbon content (0.15-0.40%) higher than 410 stainless steel, it achieves superior strength and hardness after heat treatment, making it the preferred choice for cutting tools, surgical instruments, and industrial molds. Its balanced composition (12-14% chromium) provides moderate corrosion resistance, ideal for applications demanding durability in non-marine environments.
